Embrace Change

The climate is telling us with increasing urgency: Stop consuming, stop wasting and start acting more responsibly. This means changing the way we live and how we interact with nature and its resources. One elegant solution is living more simply, including living smaller and more sustainably in Tiny Homes, 4-Season Yurts and Geodesic Domes.

There has been a ton of research, discussion, reports and analyses done on and around the Tiny Home movement, Tiny Home construction and the Tiny Living trend worldwide. While not all specific to Vancouver Island and the Sooke region, here are a few relevant websites and documents for those who want to be better informed.

The first thing we can all do is START TALKING about Tiny Homes; not everyone knows about these highly-affordable options, and the more people who are interested in seeing this happen, the better a chance we have, collectively.

Information is a prelude to better understanding...

“The biggest challenge,” says McCauley, “is getting through the approval process in order to get more product to market and increase supply. This continues to fuel higher housing prices. We need to be able to deliver more housing, faster. All levels of government need to focus on how to expedite development approvals, and then we might see some softening of prices.”
